1MESSY BUN DECLARED CLASSY

The messy bun made a luxury statement with designers Channel and Lulu Guiness sporting them, as does Meghan Markle for a free, bouncy and healthy look. Styling elements of curls and turban headbands were seen accessorizing it further.

Pro tip by lead hairstylist Zoe Irwin: Create “bubble curls” by twisting the hair around instead of flat wrapping it on the curling wand.

2THE PONY PERSISTS

Mid-set and Low set ponytails swished on the runway this season. Most notably used in Valentino and Mark Fast’s collections, the pony’s were seen to look natural and blowy. With minimal use of sprays and stiffeners, inherent hair textures shone through.

Pro Tip by Maria Kovacs: For a strong but glamorous look; contrast delicate looking apparels with a mid-set ponytail and sharp tuxedo parting.

3SLICK BACK

The hairstyle at Roberta Cavalli focused on a wet-look with being swept back as if caught in the rain. The sleek back look was also sported by Mcqueen and  Bella Hadid. Twisting the trend a little Ralph & Russo and the hair tightly swept back into neat buns.

Take the hair back neatly & secure it with accessories, blow in mild stiffener for a casual & fresh look.

4STATEMENT ACCESSORIES

Dolce & Gabbana is famed for their fun and fabulous hair adornments on the ramp. Head Hairstylist Guido Palau suggests accompanying headpieces with crowns and tiaras. Also noted was Tom Ford for the black leather headbands and Kate Spade for the silk headpieces.

Make your statement with earrings, especially with short hair or rely on your headbands and barrettes to speak volumes.

5CENTRAL PARTINGS

Sharp Central partings with tie-up as well as free flow were amply spotted on the runway. Calvin Klein and Alberta Ferretti kept it smooth and shiny with hair that was left free to move. Zadig & Voltaire added an edge by use of multiple barrettes to flyaways from the faces.

Pro tip by Micheal Kors: Get a spontaneous and youthful look with a smooth center parting and a simple tuck behind the ears. Pair it with statement earrings.

6LETTIN' IT FLOW FREE

A sleek crown emphasized with shine spray for controlled movement of the lengths –The look represents the modern lifestyle – young, fun and free. Eudon Choi let the braids loose after they had been plaited to create soft, natural-looking waves that still have a little hold.

Pro tip from Oscar de la Renta: Make a strong appearance, have your hair tucked behind the ears simply!

7COLOURED AND CROPPED

Call it the rebellious, the brave or the loud look, bright colours of cropped hair prevailed as a prominent catwalk trend. Following the wigs at Jeremy Scott, Marc Jacobs had the runway coloured with neon geometric haircuts. Glossy, hyper-real, unnatural colours, as well as pastels, make this look grungy and young.

8HATS ON

The ramp loves the hat this season. Besides being a winter essential and serving all its utilitarian purposes, hats and caps have always remained a statement maker for designers. Noted on the Runway was Dior’s Vintage looking hat for a 60’s look and Anna Sui’s famed Pom pom hat.
